So I’ve always thought that tea, as in tea bags that you brew, were healthy, and generally all natural. Which is probably because I always thought tea tasted bad, therefore it must be good for you. But I was wrong, very very wrong :-(
Anyhow, I’ve come to enjoy tea as a nice substitute for other beverages during whole30. But I almost fell off my chair the other day when I read the ingredients. Sneaky f***ers put bad stuff in EVERYTHING…
Exhibit A: Lipton White Blueberry Pommegranate Tea
These jerks put corn starch in their teabags… Who does that??? Seriously! But I guess this could somewhat be expected from Lipton.
Exhibit B: Bigelow Peach Tea
I’m glad Bigelow is proud of their recipe, but soy? Seriously???
What I will now be drinking…. AKA Tori’s Favorites
So now that I have ranted, I will share with you some of the teas I have found that ARE okay.
Pure Leaf Unsweetened
This one is my fav, and good for on the go.
Stash Raspberry Pomegranate Green Tea
Another of my favorites. I was give a couple sample packs from a breast cancer event, and they are delicious!
Ingredients: green tea, chamomile, hibiscus, orange peel, citric acid, natural raspberry flavor, matcha, natural pomegranate flavor.
Celestial Seasonings Acai Mango Zinger
I’ve also looked into Celestial’s Sleepytime teas (which we own every flavor of) and they appear to be corn and soy free as well.
Shout out to my fellow whole30’er Nicole, who posted this on Facebook. She recommends Adagio Tea, particularly their Rooibos (which we are still unsure how that is actually pronounced, Roy-Boze? Roo-ee-bas? Ra-bows? who knows???)
What are your fav’s?
Leave me some comments people!
